Week 3 - Diapora, Transnationalism, and Asian American Studies: Positions and Debates. - Jimmy Tran

Christopher Lee gives good insight on talking about how Asian America are not the same as the United States of America. The difference is that Asian America is international and worldwide. Sucheta Mazumdar, talked about how Asian American Studies is relevant and present in today’s world. It is always changing and it is very aware of the transnational aspect of it. This type of awareness is essential because it analyzes the study in all angles instead of blocking out important ideas that can help the study a lot. Robert Park is a sociologist who contributed to Asian American Studies by talking about immigrant assimilation and how it influenced ethnic studies. It was influenced because it gave a political agenda to the field and brought it more to life by adding critical thinking to it. The term transnational is important to understand for this reading because relationships between cultures are different throughout the world. Even though, society is globalized, people do transactions and business differently with each other due to different boundaries and beliefs between the countries.

In regards to transnationalism, how do Asian countries and the U.S view on how to do business? How does transnationalism help or harm it?
