Week 2 - Asian American critique - Jimmy Tran

Kuan-Hsing Chen makes an argument that gets readers to think upon the Asian American critique. This critique talks about Asian American settlers and how they need to challenge the U.S. to get out the mode of feeling oppressed. This type of mentality has been evident in the past because feeling colonized and imperialized is a way to control the Asian American population. It is a way to control how they think, how they feel and what type of options they have for their own lives. In the past, US imperialists practice have affected Asia and the Pacific tremendously because their population have been seized which shuts off their way of life. This is related to globalization because the world is now connected economically. We depend on each other for supply and demand. It is the exact opposite from the past because in the past, US controlled regions by force. In class, we learned that histories have evolved and experiences have evolved due to new technology getting more advanced in the 21st century.
Does Globalization help or hurt the Asian American Critique? In what ways is it related to it? In what ways are they different?
