Week 4 Blog Post

In “The Trans-Pacific Partnership: A Deeply Flawed Partnership,” Mel Gurtov criticizes the TPP (Trans-Pacific Partnership) for exporting more jobs than it will create, hindering unionization, not protecting workers from the consequences of the effects of the agreement, causing the emigration of impoverished agriculture workers, and ignoring environmental, health, and safety laws. In my opinion, Mel Gurtov makes a valid argument for the issues regarding the TPP. The article relates to this week’s topic of Economics because the groups that would be a part of the TPP would represent a large chunk of the global GDP and world trade. The article is also relevant to current events outside of class because it is fairly recent and it would have a radical effect on the world’s economy.

Question: What benefits could come from the formation of the TTP (Trans-Pacific Partnership)?
