Week 2 - Chloe Shiau

Evelyn Hu-Dehart's "Asian American Formations in the Age of Globalization" focuses on different personal events of transnationalism. She first talks about Gary Locke, who's election as the governor of Washington gave him a respect as a model minority in America, as well as connecting with China building a bridge between Asia and America. Hu-Dehart also explained the new communication technology that has allowed transnationalism because of its easy access to communicate across borders. China's resources are also helping the U.S. in terms of "economic, social, and cultural" resources.

I believe the new Asian American generation helps build a bridge between Asia and America, even if some do not know they are helping. As an Asian American, I use new technology and teach it to my family in China so that we can communicate more easily, and I believe it has brought me closer to my culture also.

Question: How will the next generation strive to build a stronger bridge between Asia and America?
