Week 9 - Chloe Shiau

Daniel Tsang's "Notes on Queer 'N Asian Virtual Sex" talks about how technology allows people these days to meet through the internet. However, with this technology how would one know that in dating sites, that the person they are talking to are saying true things? Tsang mentioned that someone he was chatting with was a college student, so he called his college and found out that he in fact did not exist. This shows that the Bulletin Board System (BBS) allows one to reinvent themselves for others to see.

For me, this shows that people are not comfortable with themselves because of how society or peers portray them, which is maybe why they would want to reinvent themselves online. Factors such as age, race, sexuality, etc. is crucially judged by society.

Question: Will racism/judgements on sexuality ever stop? Even with the support of the LGBTQ community, race and ethnicity still comes in play. Will there every be equality?
