In Transnationalizing Vietnam: Community, Culture, and Politics in Diaspora" by Kieu-Linh Caroline Valverde, she explains how transnational plays a role in Vietnam and the diasporic group. Diaspora tends to have a definite meaning to it since it a connection to their homeland. Still, there are negative attitudes also between the two groups like the enforces of anticommunism. The Vietnamese diaspora began the moment that they immigrated to places like the United States. The Vietnamese diaspora includes Vietnamese from the homeland and the future generations Of Vietnamese Americas. In America, many Vietnamese Americans talk about the motherland, their culture, experience, and stories that they have there. They feel this connection to Vietnam. I notice many Vietnamese American talks about how they want to travel to Vietnam and connect with their roots. Transnational and diaspora have allowed exchanges between America and Vietnam. There is a connection between Vietnam and its diaspora, which leads to the development of transnational connections for Vietnam so that oversea Vietnamese can come to visit Vietnam like my own family. I never thought of diaspora as a form tourism to oversea Vietnamese Americans.
So how does Vietnam plan to deal with the diaspora through transnationalizing the future generation of oversea Vietnamese?
