In the article written by Anderson and Lee, it describes the diaspora of Asian-American. For an Asian American, diasporas represent how the physical movement and displacement of this circle has ties to their upbringing and can affect them internally. For example, in the quote in Transnationalizing Vietnam, it states, "Youths growing up in the United States were also going through difficult issues of acculturation. Many developed self-esteem and identity issues commonly experienced by people of color in the predominantly white, Eurocentric U.S. society" (Valverde,11). This quote describes a perfect representation of how many Asian-Americans feel when growing up in America and not being able to fit in due to cultural ties and rooted backgrounds from their home country. Having an identity crisis is something that displaces a lot of Asian-Americans and impacts our self image by feeling not asian enough or american enough. In today's culture, many asians feel the same towards that in the entertainment industry, many of us grew up watching shows and movies that were portrayed by white actors or even african-american, with little to no representation of any actors of asian descent who didn't play a stereotypical role. With this kind of exposure it highlights the certain judgement many Americans have on asians and would misinterpret and stereotype us as Asian-Americans as a whole.
Question : What is the stats of Asian-American people and their rate of mental health?
