Wong asserts in “Diasporas, Displacements, and the Construct of Transnational Identities” how transmigration of people, goods, and knowledge between countries ultimately increases the ties in the world. I agree that any form of migration instantly forms a tie between countries as there is a relationship between those involved. A point is made that cultural identity, though evolving over time due to changes in the world, remains relatively constant. One’s ideals, beliefs, and traditions remain the same but the ever changing world can alter how culture is delivered or displayed. What other factors in our current times strengthen or weaken an individual’s cultural ties to their homeland and how do they balance their transnational identity?
