Week 5- Kayla Lor

Candace Fujikane critiques in their article “Asian American critique and Moana Nui 2011: securing a future beyond empires, militarized capitalism and APEC” about the United State’s militarized economic control of the countries in Asia and the Pacific.  Fukikane uses a excerpt stated by Clinton in 2011, critiquing it as a “militarized theater necessary for the performance of US economic policies”.  Fukikane further explains this as logic of US imperialism, forcing open markets in Asia and the Pacific.  What I appreciated about this article is that not only did Fujikane focused on the imperialism of the US, but they also heavily focused how this would affect people and specifically indigenous people and their land.

Question: What kinds of steps should be taken in order to get the attention of big powers such as APEC?
