Lee's "Crossing Borders of Disciplines and Departments" emphasizes how globalization today "reflects the practice of everyday life." The most emphasized form of globalization in this chapter is technology. Because of technology, we invent social media where people all over the world know what is happening in different areas. Especially with the 9/11 attacks, everyone saw on television the terrorists, and attacked Asian Americans who looked like the terrorists that bombed and killed thousands of people that day. This is why globalization is so significant to people around the world, especially with the advance of technology.
The advance of technology has it pros and cons. It is great to know how your homeland is doing and what events has been happening across the world. However, social media sometimes portray Asian Americans as a whole instead of an individual when certain events happen, such as 9/11. This puts light on the Asian Americans that look like the terrorists, and thus everyone who uses social media begin to degrade them. I don't think it's right to blame someone because of their race and something people of their race has done.
Question: How was America been involved in helping those races who have been targeted by the majority?
