Week 6 - Mimi Le

In Stuart's Hall "Cultural Identity and Diaspora", Hall recognizes the different identities that have emerged from social movements. From immigration, a culture's identity is easily lost through generations. We identify culture identity as "the reservoir of our cinematic narratives" (Hall 236). I think it's important for those who lost their identities to return to homeland to connect the past, present, and future in order. By unifying together their knowledge, they're able to make an impact through their community whether it's through politics, economics, or any space they're willing to take up. By always reproducing and reinventing themselves, they can constitute new attitudes, beliefs, and create a place where it's welcoming to those who lost their cultural identity.

Question: What makes up a person's cultural identity? Is it their background or is it what they want to represent? I chose this image because I thought it was interesting how we see one another.
