K. Scott Wong's "Diasporas, Displacements, and the Construction of Transnational Identities" discusses the effects of transnationalism in America. Specifically, Wong writes about how America creates a transnational identity by forming relationships and connections with different countries through diasporas. Due to the multitude of ideologies and beliefs, culture is portrayed by Wong as fluid, or constantly changing. Additionally, Wong discusses the relationship between globalization and transnationalism, which is something we have also done in class. Globalization ultimately supports growth due to its expansion of economic transport and communication. Therefore, immigrants who resist assimilating into the "melting pot" mentality retain their connections to the diaspora, and further this economic growth.
Question: How do the negative effects of globalization, which were discussed during the first weeks of the course, tie into the specific groups that Wong writes about?
