In this week's reading, it talks about the idea of transnationalism and the impact for grass root politics. He brings the concept of deterritorialization among exiles and refugees. By silencing and marginalizing to exclude "others" are what he said signs of failure of the nation state. This thus leads to grassroot politics in which this new form of politic steers away from the norm. However, it helped create small spaces of cultural bubbles such as Koreatown or Chinatown. Being a migrant from different parts of the world impacted transnationalism and globalization. By having ties to the homeland, they therefore "think globally" and "act locally". For example, a more recent thing I've witnessed on campus was Hong Kong protestors by chinese students who are studying in America.
Having this big impact is something that many migrants are doing to secure themselves in what they believe in and make it known locally by acting globally.
Q: How can these culture bubbles help their ties to the homeland?
