Week 2 Blog - MV

"Asian American Formations in the Age of Globalization" by Hu-Dehart introduces Asian Americans as the bridge builder or the central component of globalization with the Asian Countries. As the immigration of Asians into America increased, Asians has demonstrated their capability in reconnecting with their ancestral countries. Locke was an example who showed that both sides willingly accepted Asian Americans as the bridge builders to build and grow their economic industries. What interested me the most in this passage was the topic of trans nationalism. Hu- Dehart mentioned that "most immigrants today are probably transnational to some point in that they do not pick up all roots and sever all ties." His statement made me wonder whether bridge builders were only necessary during a point of time.

Question: Is trans nationalism the beginning of a decline in culture?
